Bangaram Island Resort, a CGH Earth Experience hotel, started in 1989 is one of the strings of islands lying approximately 320 km (200 miles) off the south west coast of India and 460kms from the costal town of Kochi in Kerala. The Islands are located between 8o to 12o north latitude and 71o to 74o east longitude. The tiniest union territory of India, Lakshadweep is an archipelago (group of small islands) of 12 coral atolls (island), 3 coral reefs and five submerged banks. It is a uni-district union territory of 32sqkms and comprises of 10 uninhabited islands, 17 inhabited islands, four newly formed islets and 5 submerged reefs. And a total 36 islands in all. Location: 460kms from Kochi by air 15kms from Agatti through sea Bangaram, the Jewel of Lakshadweep presents a breathtaking spectacle of sparkling coral reefs, turquoise blue lagoons, silvery beaches and lush green coconut palm all preserved in the state just as the first discoverers could have found them. It is quite a small island and one can walk around it within an hour. Surrounding the island is a coral reef that forms a large sheltered lagoon with clear water. One can clearly see multi colored fish weave in and out of the coral. A historic ship wreck lies on the outer slope of the coral reef in a depth of 9 to 54 m and in abundance of materials with archaeological significance. The place is rich in under water life. Weather in Lakshadweep: Lakshadweep has a humid and generally pleasant climate. Temperatures vary from 27o  to 30o from September to March and 30o  to 34o from March to May. Water temperatures at the lagoon are around 25 to 27o. The monsoon period is from 15th of May to 15th of September. During this time the sea remains rough throughout. The reefs that encircle the island keep the lagoon calm. Due to the rough sea, boats do not ply out of the lagoon.

About the rooms: Bangaram Island has 26 cottages in two categories.

Standard Room:  There are 23 standard rooms with a living cum bedroom, a private sit out and a bathroom. The floor area of a Standard room is 354 sq.ft. All rooms are twin bedded rooms and can be joined to a large bedded.

Deluxe Room: There are only three deluxe Rooms, all double bedded rooms. A deluxe room has two spacious bedrooms with attached Bathrooms, a common dining Area, a common living area cum sit out. The area of the deluxe room is 976 sq ft

All the rooms at Bangaram Island are basic with mini bars and ceiling fans. The room is provided with insect screens so that one can keep the windows open and mosquito repellant in the room. There is no air-conditioning or hot water. A safe is provided at the reception to deposit guest valuables.

Applicable Rates for Children / Extra Person:

• Children below 5 years will be accommodated on complimentary basis without extra bed.

• Children above 12 years with one extra bed subject to a maximum of one person as per supplement given above.

Entry Permit to Lakshadweep:

Visitors to the island will require an entry permit to specific islands.

• All tourists to Lakshadweep needs to carry entry permit ; to obtain the same,

  • Domestic Tourists - Full name, Date of Birth & Place of Birth

  • Foreigners have to submit copy of passport.

Guidelines to guests during the stay at Bangaram Island Resort:

• Please carry casual clothing and footwear and wear even on arrival.

• The trip from Agatti to Bangaram will have you invariably set foot in water.

• Please do not leave valuables, shoes, snorkels, or any such materials outside the room and you will have fishermen walking on the beach.

• The presence of mosquitoes is due to the fresh water lake in the island. The windows of rooms are covered by mosquito nets and mosquito repellents are provided in rooms. Make sure the doors are kept closed in the evening.

• The Resort use ground water and carries the smell of Sulphur at times. It is however safe.

• Laundry services are available. The clothes are hand washed and dried naturally. The service will require 24 hrs to hand over.

• First aid facilities are available at the resort. Agatti has a primary health centre with qualified doctors.

• The Resort accepts all major credit cards, debit cards, foreign currency and travelers’ cheques.

• Baggage allowance is 15 kg per person

• Please pack cameras and other valuables in water proof bags during boat transfers.

• Follow island rules.

Terms:

There are specially formatted rules and regulations for the islands; we request you to adhere to these strictly, while you are at Lakshadweep.

• Liquor is prohibited in Lakshadweep and not allowed to be brought from mainland. Only Bangaram Island is allowed to sell liquor.

• Neither Aaditya Tours and Travels or Bangaram Island Beach Resort will not be responsible for any changes in Flight / Ship Schedule, as flight is operated by Indian Airlines, Kingfisher Airlines & ship by Lakshadweep Administration.

• The transportation during the Monsoon Period May 15 - September 15 will be with the help of helicopters. The use of helicopters is at the discretion of the administration. The administration may at any time cancel the services without any sort of prior intimation. Such may result in inconvenience to the guest and the management can only be of help to arrange other means of transportation as available and possible at the time of such contingencies. There also may be occasions when mode of transport are not available and the guest may be held at Agatti and again the management can only be of help to arrange other means of accommodation as available and possible at the time of such contingencies.

Reservation and Cancellation Policy

• The Payment must receive 30 days prior for reservation, failing which reservation will be cancelled.

• Cancellation of a reservation between 30 days to 8 days of the arrival date will incur a cancellation charge equivalent to one night’s accommodation by the hotel(s).

• Cancellation of a reservation less than 7 days prior to arrival will incur a cancellation charge for the entire length of stay.
