Kabini - the river holiday: The
Kabini or Kabani is a river of southern India, originates in Wayanad
District of Kerala state. It also passes through the southern part of
Kodagu District of Karnataka state through the Nagarhole National Park.
From the mighty tuskers to the mouse deer, Kabini is home to many a
variety of animals and birds though the elephants outnumber them.
Orange
County Resort, Kabini - Situated in the heart land of the 'Kadukuruba
Tribe' of Nagarhole forest and surrounded on three sides by the Kabini
river, Orange County Resort, Kabini is built in authentic Kuruba village
style. Each palm-thatched hut at the resort comes fitted with all the
luxuries you could hope for including its own plunge pool or Jacuzzi in
a private, open-to-sky courtyard. Nagarhole forest supports the highest
density of herbivores in Asia in addition to its three major predators
Best time to Visit Kabini:
Winter records a temperature of 26oC and Summer
records 33oC. It is open throughout the year. Best time to
see wildlife is from November to January and when the forests are lush
green between July and October.

The guests will have to inform at the activity centre
beforehand about their interest to go for the Guided Bird
watching which is done at the banks of the river. The
Naturalist will be informed of the same and it is usually
conducted at 07 AM by walk

The Elephant Interaction includes feeding, giving a bath,
etc to the Elephant. An Elephant ride would be charged @ Rs.
250/- per person for 15 minutes and this can be taken
directly at the resort as it cannot be pre-booked.

The Coracle ride is part of the package; the guest could opt
for it at the resort subject to weather conditions.

The guests will have to inform at the activity centre
beforehand about their interest to go for the Kuruba Village
Visit. This is will be a guided visit conducted at 10 AM –
01 PM. The guests could either go by bicycle or on their own
vehicle; the village is about 3 km from the resort.

Based on new Government Regulations as on 01.Feb.2011,
safari charges have been revised as: Indian Nationals -
Rs.1000/- per person per safari, Foreign Nationals - Rs.
2000/- per person per safari. These rates are inclusive of
camera charges (Regular Point & Shoot and DSLR cameras
only).

Safety Regulation: Children below the age of 6 years
are not permitted on Boat or Vehicle Safaris.

The vehicle / boat safaris are on 18seater (Swaraj Mazda
Canter / Motor Boat) and have to be pre-booked as it is
subject to availability.

Kindly note that we do have Jeeps available at our resort in
Kabini, however this cannot be pre-booked as it is subject
to permissions and availability.
